9. Men's Money In The Bank Ladder Match - Money In The Bank

A festival of bone-crunching violence at a level well beyond even the very dangerous Money In The Bank norm, this crazed match served a grim and well-worn purpose: to further put Brock Lesnar over as a meta mercenary who doesn't put in a shift.

Still, divisive shock finish aside, this was an awesome spectacle, the story of which centred on the sheer, career-defying willingness to grasp a World Championship match, only intensified to a drastic extent.

But it wasn't merely a collection of unhinged spots.

Baron Corbin performed in character by simply refusing to take a risk and capitalising on those who did; in a simple, effective early spot, he simply nope'd Ali's climb and battered his spine on the steel. Finn Bálor entered a performance of unreal commitment in neat contrast; the way in which his body bounced back off the ladder following Andrade's sunset flip powerbomb was beautifully disgusting. Bálor wasn't even lucky to bounce back up in a later spot; he splattered himself across the side of a ladder, with no give, from Corbin's chokeslam.

Michael Cole described the action as "absolutely ridiculous," following Ali's poison 'rana on Ricochet, and it was his greatest stint in forever; the pearl-clutching commentator trope does so much to put over the brutality in the ring, and his hysteria felt both earned and authentic.
