10 Best WWE Matches Of 2019
4. Brock Lesnar Vs. Seth Rollins - SummerSlam
A near-phenomenal babyface performance worked by the most detestable talent of the year, that in itself puts over what triumph of a match this was.
Lesnar tweaked the formula to stunning effect here, using the Suplex City framework to build something incredible. Rollins used the tools to his advantage to avoid the hellish visit by backflipping out of the first German and instantly responding with a Curb Stomp for an awesome near-fall that also made effective use of source material: the fans believed this could end early because WrestleMania 35's opener was such a jolt to the system. Dramatic and believable from the off, this became harrowing as Seth's knackered ribs allowed Lesnar to more easily wind him.
But Lesnar, because he's so great at being a piece of sh*t, did not seek to put Rollins away. He toyed with him, drawing the heat, and the Toronto crowd - so prone to revolt that WWE has a city-specific PR spin for their mentality - got behind the Beastslayer. His babyface comeback was constructed brilliantly, which helped, and he displayed the babyface fire many thought beyond him. These fans wouldn't have pissed on him if he was on fire, a few minutes prior.
Lesnar swiftly stopped toying with him - he had to - and after flattening Rollins with one German immediately clutched to him to deliver another. In a battle of shark versus eel, Rollins won by slipping out of an F5 with perfecting timing.
