10 Best WWE Matches Since 2010
4. Bayley Vs. Sasha Banks (NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn)
Without NXT’s Four Horsewomen, there’s no Women’s Revolution, and while Bayley, Sasha Banks, Charlotte, and Becky Lynch have since changed the face of women’s wrestling on the main roster, this singles bout remains the group’s finest hour.
Banks and Bayley’s rematch at TakeOver: Respect was the first time two women had ever headlined a major WWE event, and is therefore more historic, but it’s tough to beat the story they told in Brooklyn. Bayley had spent the bulk of her career playing fourth-fiddle to the rest of the group. She was the plucky underdog who got by on determination and hard work alone, but while this made her one of NXT’s most popular stars, it didn’t translate into success.
Sasha, meanwhile, was a cocky, flashy Women’s Champion, and the polar opposite of her challenger in terms of attitude and approach. She’d won the title on merit, but she thought nothing of using underhand tactics to scheme her way to success, but her Machiavellian ways were no match for Bayley’s fire that night.
After a thrilling exchange of signature moves and false finishes, Bayley finally broke the glass ceiling. A top rope reverse Hurricanrana and her Bayley-to-Belly finisher secured the biggest win of her career, and capped the perfect underdog story, making this the benchmark in NXT women’s bouts.
