10 Best WWE Matches That Ever Happened In July

1. WWE Championship: CM Punk Vs. John Cena - Money In The Bank 2011

It was about one month ago when I wrote that Money in the Bank 2011 won't be topped anytime soon. The two main reasons for that was because the main event match between CM Punk and John Cena is one of the best ever while the ending to the show is so unique that it will probably never be duplicated again. There were so many elements that made the match stand out. We knew CM Punk's contract was up, but we didn't know if he was going to stay in WWE. The event was in Punk's hometown of Chicago, which is one of the best crowds in wrestling. The emotions in the arena that night felt more real than any wrestling show maybe ever. John Cena, whether you love him or hate him, was the right guy to face Punk that night because nobody else would have made the match feel as important. Like Ric Flair always said: "To be the man, you gotta beat the man." Punk had to beat the man and that was undoubtedly John Cena. It's a match that had a special feeling as soon as the bell rang. They had plenty of time to tell the story they wanted to tell. It went nearly 35 minutes in fact. There were so many believable nearfalls. If the crowd wasn't so into it they might have lost their voices due to the noise they were making all match long. The match wasn't about stipulations. There were no weapons in sight. It was just two guys going at it in a regular match to see who the better man was. There wasn't any interference aside from when Vince McMahon and John Laurinaitis came down to ringside, but Cena did the honorable thing by preventing them from doing anything. That led to Punk dropping Cena with the Go To Sleep for the biggest win of his career. Everything worked during this match. Both guys were at their absolute best and the crowd showed their appreciation all night long. It reminded us why we loved pro wrestling. This wasn't just the best July match in WWE history. It's in the discussion for being the best WWE match ever too. No doubt about it.
