10 Best WWE Matches That Happened Outside America
8. Finn Balor Vs Samoa Joe
In 2015, NXT was really beginning to cement its status as one of the most unmissable wrestling shows around. Its weekly Full Sail shows broadcast on the WWE Network were regularly hailed as some of the best WWE programming each week and HHH had slowly begun to put together a high calibre roster including some of the world’s biggest stars that had yet to feature on ‘main roster’ programming.
Bringing NXT to the UK was an absolute slam dunk decision as the UK crowd was ready to see some of the talents they’d seen on the Indies compete on a huge stage as they mixed with other WWE Performance Centre graduates. It’s fair to say, they did not disappoint.
A card held before a sell out crowd of pro wrestling fans at the SSE Arena in London was headlined by two of wrestling's world-travelled stars as Samoa Joe challenged the former Prince Devitt - Finn Balor for the NXT Championship.
Balor had quickly risen to be one of NXT’s biggest stars and was beloved by the UK crowds. Samoa Joe’s history in ROH and TNA/Impact had him held in high esteem too and the atmosphere for their clash was electric. After the Dusty Classic winning tag team imploded, Joe provoked Balor enough for him to bring the Demon alter ego to London for yet another spectacular entrance which was a precursor to the quality of the match that was about to happen. Joe came up short, but this was by far their finest NXT clash and a sign of things to come for the Black and Gold brand.
