10 Best WWE Moments From Wrestlers Who Just Got Released
3. Mike Chioda Hits The People's Elbow
Yes, Mike Chioda is a referee, but he had a surprisingly memorable moment as a wrestler in the company. Before we get to that, though, did you realise that he's actually been with WWE since 1989?
He's officiated some of the biggest matches of all-time, including the WrestleMania main event which saw Seth Rollins cash in to become WWE Champion (he was also taken out by Shawn Michaels' Sweet Chin Music when the Heartbreak Kid faced John Cena at the Show of Shows).
His biggest WWE moment, however, came when he competed in an actual match alongside The Rock and Chris Jericho on an episode of SmackDown in 2001. They faced The Dudley Boyz and WCW referee Nick Patrick, and it was Chioda who scored the 1-2-3 after hitting his own surprisingly impressive version of "The People's Elbow" on the heel Patrick.
This was a silly, but still fun moment, and something you have to believe stick with Chioda over the course of his 31 year career with WWE. We're just sad to see that his tenure has now ended.
