Okay so this isn't a moment, it's a series of moments. A journey. A chase. Daniel Bryan as an avatar of the fans versus the WWE machine. One of the rare times (whether accidentally or otherwise) WWE actually got it right.

The whole journey was incredible and although it culminated in 2014, it actually started back in 2012, when he lost to Sheamus at WrestleMania XXVIII in just 18 seconds. Something about that loss touched the fans and got them behind Bryan like few could have ever anticipated. The following night, the fans showed their support by chanting "Yes!", a catchphrase Bryan was using to annoy them at the time, all night long, even during segments with The Rock and John Cena.

The whole journey from then on was just an enormous power struggle between WWE and the fans. The fans wanted Bryan as their champion, WWE didn't see him at that level. Vintage WWE. That's almost their signature move, at this point. When WWE left him out of the Royal Rumble, things escalated so much that the main event of WrestleMania XXX was in serious danger of being rejected and relentlessly booed.

CM Punk walking out of WWE just increased the fans animosity towards WWE and the whole feud got incredibly heated. If only they could generate this much heat for the feuds that they actually book, right?

In the end, WWE relented and went from not having major plans for Daniel Bryan (and, I'm CONVINCED, trolling us with rumours of yet another match with Sheamus), all the way to giving him two main event calibre matches at 'Mania, concluding in him winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship after beating Triple H, Randy Orton and Bootista in the same night.

It was the ultimate feel-good story for the fans and let them know they had the power to change things that they didn't like, a power some say that they abuse at this point...
