10 Best WWE Pay-Per-View Cliffhangers

In a lot of ways, having both of the champions sit at ringside to watch the Royal Rumble is an awkward dynamic, particularly when both of them are bigger stars than just about any one competitor in the match itself.

But, at the same time, there's no denying that this ploy came into its own after Asuka eliminated her final foe in the 2018 Royal Rumble. When the final bell sounded, both Alexa Bliss and Charlotte joined her in the ring, leaving us all wondering which one she would challenge at WrestleMania.

Brilliantly, this then turned into a double cliffhanger when a debuting Ronda Rousey walked out. Now, not only did we not know who the Empress of Tomorrow would be facing, but who - if either of them - would be breaking in WWE's latest big money acquisition.

If there's a criticism to be made here, it's that they waited too long to answer all of those questions. We didn't hear anything substantive the following night on Raw, and it would take until Fastlane before Asuka made up her mind. Our attention spans aren't that long.
