10 Best WWE Pay-Per-View Cliffhangers
7. CM Punk Runs Off With The Belt (Money In The Bank 2011)
With good reason, Money in the Bank 2011 is regarded as one of the all-time best non-big four WWE pay-per-views. Not only did it have a stellar main event - one of few WON-rated five-star matches in the promotion's history - but it also went off the air with a cliffhanger.
After taking John Cena's WWE Title, and then hot-footing it out of the ring as Alberto Del Rio attempted to cash in Money in the Bank, CM Punk exited the arena through the crowd, having blown a farewell kiss to a disgusted Vince McMahon.
As well as being one of the best endings to a wrestling event this side of the Monday Night Wars, it made the angle irresistibly intriguing. Did this mean that Punk was, as he had previously intimated, leaving the company with its biggest prize around his waist?
Needless to say, few of us actually regarded that as a plausible, real-life outcome (though, frankly, if anyone was going to try it, it would have been Punk), but it opened up a whole range of potential possibilities in terms of storylines - the sort of stuff we hadn't seen in a long, long time.
