The contest between Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker at Badd Blood 1997 was important enough without the main stipulation - the winner would head on to face Bret Hart for the WWE Championship at Survivor Series. But history was also made at the event, as it was the first ever Hell in a Cell contest, a match that has since seen some iconic bouts inside the demonic structure. Taker's clash with Mankind inside Hell in a Cell is perhaps the most famous example, but it was this match at Badd Blood that gave birth to the concept - and gave us an absolutely remarkable ending. The contest lasted almost 30 minutes, and has to be regarded as one of the greatest ever wrestling matches to take place in the modern era. Both men gave it everything they had, and there were some amazing segments throughout. However, the reason this ending is so fantastic is because of the shock debut we were treat to towards the end of the contest. With The Undertaker ready to strike a final blow and finish off any hopes Michaels had of winning, the arena was suddenly plunged into darkness. Nobody knew what was going on, until the shrill laugh of Paul Bearer was heard. When the lights came up, the man who would become known all around the world as Kane was stood in front of The Undertaker. He laid Taker out, which eventually enabled Michaels to pick up the win, and advance to face Hart. When debuts happen to impact the end of pay-per-view shows, you just know that the debutant in question is going to have a huge career with the WWE. And in Kane's case, that couldn't be more true.
