10 Best WWE Promo Guys Of The Attitude Era

8. Goldust

The son of a son of a plumber, Dustin Rhodes came from wrestling royalty. In an effort to make his own mark, he took what his father Dusty taught him and invented his own character separated from the Rhodes legacy: Goldust. When Goldust first hit our screens in 1995, we'd never seen anything like him before. His bizarre overly sexual in-ring manner was designed to creep out fans and opponents alike but it was when he picked up the microphone that we got a true glimpse of his warped mind. He'd generally cut promos in the full blond wig and come across reminiscent of Silence Of The Lamb's Buffalo Bill. His quiet almost whisper-like delivery stood out from the rest of the roster and in the same way as the legendary Jake 'The Snake' Roberts. He spoke in a quiet even tone that would make you sit up and really listen before he raised his voice for the go-home line and made you jump back. People are often confused and/or scared by what they do not understand and Dustin Rhodes understood this, making his character unlike anything wrestling fans were used to and both alienating and entrancing them at the same time.
