10 Best WWE Promos Of 2018

10. Randy Orton's Cold Explanation (SmackDown - 24 July)

Before reverting back into his tried-and-tested coldness, Randy Orton was treading water as a stoic babyface who had apparently shed the need for heel or face alignment. Orton was quickly becoming a stalwart so well-known that he didn't need much characterisation. That, as much as it happened organically, made him boring.

So, he started twisting Jeff Hardy's ears and getting off on inflicting pain.

On the 24 July episode of SmackDown, Randy was tasked with explaining why he was targeting a beloved daredevil. The whole thing could've gone horribly wrong; aside from a few brief glimmers throughout his career, Orton has never been WWE's premier promo man. Talking, by his own admission, isn't a core strength.

Here, he absolutely nailed it by turning blame onto the fans for ignoring his accomplishments in favour of popping for Jeff's recklessness. There was no stuttering, no forced cheesy dialogue and no needless jokes. Orton simply justified his actions and seemed to believe every word he was saying.
