10 Best WWE Promos Of 2018

9. John Cena Challenges The Undertaker (Raw - 12 March)

There's an argument that can be made for the 'old' John Cena being dead. You know the one. That guy would spit out venomous rhymes that cut down opponents and made fans 'ooh' and 'aah' in unison. In more recent years, Cena has relied more on goofy comedy, toilet humour ("JBL Is Poopy") and a childlike happiness even when he's supposed to be upset.

Some of that was present when he challenged The Undertaker to a WrestleMania 34 match, but it somehow worked.

Cena came across as the class clown on the 12 March Raw, and deliberately so. He was trying to poke the bear and coax a tired veteran out of the shadows so he could capitalise on the spotlight. The promo was full of barbs aimed at Michelle McCool, 'Taker's part-time scheduling and WWE for letting him get away with mediocrity.

Then, as he so often does, Cena kicked things up a notch and got serious. Few are able to so gracefully shift from smirk to grimace and get away with it like 'Big Match John' does.
