8. Hell In A Cell 2016

At the time, Hell in a Cell 2016 was met with mixed opinions. The show featured three Hell in a Cell matches, only one of which truly justified the use of the structure. You could argue that the cell was needed to keep Chris Jericho out of the WWE Universal Championship match, but the cage failed to succeed on that front.

Still, the wrestling on this show was generally excellent. Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins had a terrific match inside the cell, and Cesaro & Sheamus defeated The New Day in another good match. Both bouts were tainted by shoddy finishes, but the action was great for the most part. The Brian Kendrick also defeated TJ Perkins for the Cruiserweight Championship, a low-key belter that suffered from a disinterested crowd.

This show was all about the history-making main event however. A lot has been made of ‘history for history’s sake’, but it is difficult to argue with Charlotte and Sasha Banks deserving top billing here. Their feud was the most heated on the show, the only one deserving of Hell in a Cell. The match suffered a little because of a lengthy stretcher spot and an uncooperative table, but was better than given credit for.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
