Eight months earlier, Raw had its best cliffhanger moment ever.

Shane McMahon appeared on the WCW portion of a Raw-Nitro simulcast in Panama City and shocked his gloating father over on the WWF side by announcing he was now the "sole owner" of World Championship Wrestling. For any longtime WCW fans watching, this was surely the very definition of bizarro world.

Try to block out the fact that WCW's 'Invasion' would soon suck hard for a moment. When Shane showed face to steal his father's thunder, it was one of the most newsworthy moments in Raw history, not to mention one hell of a way to sign off for Nitro. Everything about this was historically significant.

Questions fans had included whether or not Shane would run WCW as a separate entity to the WWF, and what this meant for his ongoing feud against daddio heading into WrestleMania X-Seven. It ended up being a disaster of an angle, albeit one with a stunning starting point.
