7. Batista Chooses To Face Triple H At WrestleMania 21
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O5RioKQTajo 2005 saw Batista emerge victorious at the Royal Rumble, guaranteeing him a shot at either the WWE or World Championship at WrestleMania 21. While fans were anxious to see The Animal finally get his chance at the top, the problem was that Triple H was the World champ at the time. And The Game wanted nothing to do with facing his Evolution protege. So he and Ric Flair devised a plan to keep Batista under their watch. They attempted to persuade him to challenge WWE champion JBL, instead of Triple H. Fans likely would have been happy with either direction Batista took but it became very apparent that the company was setting up an Evolution showdown at Mania. And that storyline came to fruition at the end of Monday Night Raw, when Batista gave Hunter and Flair the thumbs down, signaling his intention to face The Game at WrestleMania. It was a moment that fans had been waiting for, the moment that Batista gained his independence from Evolution and became a babyface. The Animal rode that wave of momentum all the way to Mania, where he defeated Hunter and became the new World champion. And the evolution of Batista began on Raw, to a huge pop from the live crowd. This is where WWE is at its best and it's just another example of how good the company can be when they're firing on all cylinders with a red hot talent at the forefront.
