Christian claiming his first WWE world title at Extreme Rules 2011 was a great moment - at the time. When looking back on it, though, it only remains so if you forget the fact that he lost it 48 hours later to Randy Orton.

That's wrestling in a nutshell, though. Every time you watch a match you have to forget about the fact that one or more of its competitors were arrested last week or harbour some unsavoury political views. It's just a fact of the business.

So we're right to celebrate this for what it was in the moment, and in the moment it was Christian, an on-and-off WWE employee of close to 15 years, finally realising all that untapped potential as a top-level star.

What made it such a great redemption story was the fact that Christian had actually proved his main event credentials away from Vince McMahon's empire. It was during his stint with TNA that he became the Instant Classic, proving to all of his fellow sorely underused colleagues that there was life after WWE after all.
