10 Best WWE Returns Of The Decade
5. Seth Rollins - Extreme Rules 2016
Roman Reigns' victory celebration was cut short when former Shield ally Seth Rollins made a surprise appearance, attacking him from behind and Pedigreeing him to the mat. He then basked in the applause and raised the WWE Championship above his head, putting the WWE Universe on notice: 'The Architect' had returned.
Rollins' injury in late 2015 abruptly cut short his absolutely brilliant run as heel champion. Sure, at the time fans loved to hate him, but that's only because he was so darn good at what he was doing. Thus, the fact that he wasn't able to carry the belt into WrestleMania or even showcase his talent at the marquee event had us all feeling for him - especially as this paved the way for WWE's not-so-subtle attempts to force Roman Reigns down our throats.
Rollins' return was a welcome surprise - one of those moments that genuinely caught us off-guard, making us all get to our feet and cheer him (regardless out how you felt about his heel run). More to the point, it was quick and sudden. There was no music, no gimmicks and no time-wasting; just Rollins and his effective finisher. It said a lot with very little, and in spite of his heel attitude, it was a truly feel-good moment because the talented superstar was back doing what he did best.
