10 Best WWE Royal Rumble Debuts
3. Rusev (2014)
Is it weird to say that Rusev seemed to represent something almost fresh when he made his main roster bow at the 2014 Royal Rumble?
He was rocking a variation of a gimmick - that of the super-angry, America-hating foreigner - that has been a staple of WWE television since the early-1980s, and yet there was something original about his act. He was a big guy, yet agile and quick across the ground, able to pull off moves not seen since Umaga departed in 2009.
The NXT grad made a huge mark on the match too, staying seven-minutes before a four-man delegation made up of CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, Kofi Kingston and Seth Rollins teamed up to haul him over the top rope.
Even after being officially knocked out, he had a role still to play in the evening's entertainment. While he was huffing and puffing on the outside, Kofi was thrown over the top rope right into his beefy arms. Despite his anger, The Bulgarian Brute had the good grace to pop the Jamaican Sensation down on the fan barricade, from where he could then jump back onto the apron and evade elimination. What a gent.
