10 Best WWE Royal Rumble Final Fours
6. 2005 (Batista, John Cena, Edge, Rey Mysterio)
Whilst the flavour of 2004’s final four was strictly Attitude Era, its succeeding final quartet featured four of the brightest future World Champion stars of the Ruthless Aggression Era. Not only this, but all four were on the verge of their biggest breakout tenure.
A group of competitors who would all go on to win a Rumble at some point in their Hall Of Fame-calibre careers, the four corners were stacked with the immense presence of Batista, John Cena, Edge and Rey Mysterio. Any would make a worthy winner, but no one could have anticipated what came next.
You know the drill: Big Dave and Big Match John simultaneously fall over the top rope in a spontaneously too-good-to-be true moment of GIF-able proportions. Then an irate Vince storms to ringside, comically tearing both quads and calling for the do-over whilst confined to the floor in the same mold as a royally pissed off child. A Mt. Rushmore Rumble moment. Sort of.
2005 produced an unforgettable Rumble, as there was a genuine sense of a changing of the guard manifested within the men who closed the match.
This, above all else, will forever assure this quartet indisputable credibility.
