10 Best WWE Royal Rumble Final Fours
3. 2010 (Edge, John Cena, Batista, Shawn Michaels)
If this match teaches you anything, whether watching it for the first or fiftieth time, it is that Shawn Michaels might just be the most engrossing performer to every grace the sport of professional wrestling.
The eloquence of the journey within which HBK takes the audience on exhibited everything that makes him so special. From the callous win at all costs mantra echoed in that wicked gunshot-like super kick to eliminate best friend Triple H, to the enthralling selling of desperate emotion upon defeat: this was perhaps his purist masterpiece to date.
If it isn’t Michaels you first think about when reminiscing about the 2010 Royal Rumble Match, then it would be Edge’s incredible return from injury. Never forget 2020 was the sequel. The stories following both competitors, one in defeat and the other in triumph, set the platform for an amazing final four also including John Cena and Batista. This Rumble just had so many layers; it would be an insult not to place it in all-time classic territory.
Sure, the final four men had been there and done it before in the closing moments of previous Rumbles, and yes they may not have combined for a breathtaking Fatal-4-Way to finish the match. However, from a perspective based on pure character-driven emotion and storytelling, this Rumble final four was a home run different to anything we’d ever seen before.
