While Dustin Rhodes’ past two years demonstrate he unequivocally did the right thing by going to AEW, it is a shame that Goldust will (probably) never again make a dramatic return at WWE’s finest pay per view, because no one did it better than he did.

With a 21 year span between Goldust’s first and last Rumbles (13 in all, tied for second most), his appearances in the competition are further evidence that Rhodes is one of the greatest professionals ever to lace up a pair of boots. Goldust would often make his returns at the Rumble, whether for a long time or just a good time, and the crowd would often react appropriately upon hearing the legend’s music.

WWE never took much notice of how over Goldust was, of course, but he encapsulates everything that’s great about the Rumble. Yes, the title shot is important, but we as fans want to see these blasts from the past. A large part of the event’s fun is that you never know just who’ll come out next, and when it’s Goldust, that’s always good news.
