10 Best WWE Segments Of 2017 (So Far)

5. The Miz Clock

Much as Dean Ambrose is in need of a complete reboot, his zany prop comic persona does, on occasion, lend itself to the odd ludicrously entertaining segment. This, on the June 5 RAW, temporarily halted the heel turn petition.

It worked because WWE, for once, acknowledged how dumb and repetitive (and thus more dumb) much of its sports entertainment vision of pro wrestling actually is. Miz is at his best operating under false delusions of grandeur. Here, he actually demonstrated enough range to render his thespian aspirations more than a rib (which of course is dumb in itself, given that the man appears in films financed by WWE Studios).

His paranoia was hilarious. He knows such segments as his Intercontinental Title Homecoming Celebration often end in babyface subterfuge. The second he suspected Dean Ambrose of hiding in plain sight, dressed as a bear, he mauled him. Then, he set about an oversized gift with a spear, a steel chair and an elbow drop. To Miz's eternal credit, nobody had to send for the man.

Ambrose did appear, in the traditional guise of a ringside cameraman. The Miz received his comeuppance. His performance was so funny that you almost felt sorry for him.

Of course, WWE ran the joke into the ground the very next week.
