10 Best WWE SummerSlam Main Events Ever

5. The Undertaker vs. Edge (2008)

As aforementioned, The Undertaker has had his fair share of duff opponents over the years at SummerSlam. Cheerfully, for every bunch of forgettable matches, there have been more memorable affairs such as his Hell In A Cell war against Edge in 2008. The cell match was the culmination of a story that had been running pretty much all year. The spoiled Edge had Smackdown GM Vickie Guerrero in his corner, a powerful ally, whilst 'Taker had to fight all on his own. Up against the odds, it seemed implausible that The Undertaker wouldn't come through and give fans a terrific end to SummerSlam. After all, the fact the match was filling the main event slot practically demanded a babyface victory. Edge was always a great foe for Undertaker, his nefarious heel persona and egotistical character directly coming across contradictory to the dark hero characteristics of 'Taker's legacy. Inside the ring, the Canadian was also no slouch. Controlling much of the early portion of this Hell In A Cell showdown, Edge battered The Undertaker with weapons, big moves and everything he had. This told a story of vengeance, whereby Undertaker was not going to let fans down by losing. The final message sent after the bell, a Chokeslam from 'Taker to Edge from a ladder through the ring, only hammered home the satisfaction of the match.
