Adding to the mystique of The Undertaker over the years has been his multiple returns, often symbolising a sort of "rebirth" from The Man From The Darkside. There's too many to list them all but a few that stand out are Judgment Day 2000, WrestleMania XX, 2-21-11 and, of course, the very first one at SummerSlam '94.

At the 1994 Royal Rumble, The Undertaker had lost his first Casket Match and after an eerie promo from inside the casket that was played on the TitanTron, The Deadman promised a "Rebirth Of The Undertaker". This would be the last anyone would see or hear from The Undertaker for months.

When the main event of SummerSlam '94 promised an Undertaker vs. Undertaker match, fans were intrigued.

The idea proved to be a failure when the program was cut short, but one thing it did succeed in delivering was the first ever return of The Undertaker.

WWE would use this strategy again for The Deadman numerous times throughout his storied career, but it was all rooted in the night of August 29th, 1994 with SummerSlam being the setting big enough to feature The Undertaker's very first return.
