While Triple H and The Rock brought back the concept of the Ladder Match at SummerSlam '98, it was Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon that first introduced this match concept to WWE audiences.

Actually, the ladder match was Bret Hart's idea from his days with Stampede Wrestling and it was Bret who wrestled Shawn in WWE's first ever Ladder Match that was filmed for a Coliseum Video release and not a PPV event. Shawn and Razor brought the match to the grand stage of WrestleMania with their much anticipated rematch taking place 17 months later at SummerSlam '95.

To follow their first bout was a tall order, especially with the little known restriction prohibiting the wrestlers from using the ladder as a weapon, a key component to their WrestleMania X match that helped to make it so memorable. Despite the adversity and the unique babyface vs. babyface dynamic, the two men pulled it off.

A consistent debate among wrestling fans revolves around the pair of Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon Ladder Matches and which one was better?

They are two completely different matches, with completely different outcomes, yet they are still considered two of the greatest matches in WWE history, even 20+ years later.
