10 Best WWE Survivor Series Elimination Matches Of The 2000s

2. Team Bischoff vs. Team Austin (2003)

Forget best Elimination match, forget the 2000s. This match is one of the best of all time. With the legendary career of 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin on the line, the seeds were planted on Raw in the weeks leading up to the event, as Stone Cold had to swallow his pride to ask long-time rival Shawn Michaels to be his fifth man.

Bischoff's team was a mix of brawn, experience, and Randy Orton, so the writing was on the wall for Austin from the get-go. In fairness, this was a young Orton's first taste of the match, the first of four wins on the bounce in Survivor Series elimination matches. Alongside Christian and Chris Jericho, Orton played a masterful role in the final act of the clash.

However, it was Michaels in particular who showed just how essential storytelling is at the very highest level (His "I'm sorry, I let you down" after the bell to Austin is heartbreaking). The three-on-one comeback whipped the Texas crowd into a maelstrom of noise, only for The Heartbreak Kid to fall short at the end because of an interfering Batista. A fitting end to Austin's career, even though he was back in an authority position a few months later.
