10 Best WWE Survivor Series Main Events Ever
3. HBK Has More Left In The Chamber (2002)
If the core concept of Survivor Series is 'survival', then perhaps no edition of the PPV captured the essence more effectively than 2002.
During an event littered with shattered tables, every manner of weapon for a women's hardcore match, a King Kong versus Godzilla showdown between Brock Lesnar and The Big Show, The SmackDown Six dueling over the Tag Team Championships and the return of Scott Steiner after nearly a decade, the piece de resistance was the six unfortunate souls entering an intimidating structure that put the Thunderdome (not that one) to shame.
In the weeks leading to the November classic, RAW General Manager Eric Bischoff unveiled the Elimination Chamber, the latest in the horrifying evolutionary chain that grew from the Steel Cage Match and Hell In A Cell and has since become a staple on the Road to WrestleMania. Inaugural participants included defending World Heavyweight Champion Triple H, Chris Jericho, Kane, Booker T, Rob Van Dam and Shawn Michaels. In spite of his inconceivable self-doubt, Michaels had returned from back surgery and a four year in-ring hiatus to conduct the match of the night at SummerSlam. However, the crowning achievement was still to come.
After nearly 40 minutes of bloodshed, broken glass, twisted metal and Triple H's inhuman effort to continue despite a crushed larynx, The Heartbreak Kid completed the improbable comeback story. After countering a Triple H's Pedigree with Sweet Chin Music, HBK personally conquered the champion in the middle of the World's Most Famous Arena.
