Of course, who else could it be? We all know this story by now; The Rockers defeated The Hart Foundation for the WWF Tag Team Championships, but the top rope snapped and as a result the match was thrown out after the bell. Much like the Rougeaus, the title reign was struck from the books.

Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty are far and away the most influential tag team in company history to never stand on top of the division. Even their split is iconic, and whenever a team splits up folk flock to decide who will be the HBK and who will be the Jannetty. Surely there was room for a tag title run for The Rockers some 25 years ago?

The answer is yes, obviously, but then it is also just as obviously no. The WWF tag team division at the time was stacked, with Demolition, The Harts, Brain Busters, Powers of Pain, Orient Express, Power and Glory, The Bushwackers and many more competing against The Rockers at various points. Jannetty and Michaels were solid in the middle of this list, and outside of that fabled win against Bret Hart & Jim Neidhart they never truly threatened the top of the division.

Still, they would have been hugely popular champions had they pulled off a victory. They remain the greatest WWE tag team to never win gold in the company. Heck, The Bodydonnas and The Headbangers did, why not The Rockers?
