Like this wasn't going to be number one. Even heavily edited, Metalingus is the perfect WWE theme song on many levels.

How Edge came to have it as his theme song is a story that worked out perfectly for all three of WWE, Edge, and Alter Bridge in hindsight.

While the Rated-R Superstar spent time out after neck surgery searching for a song that better reflected his character, he had a chance meeting with Mark Tremonti at a Metallica show. Heading back to the guitarist's house, Tremonti showed Edge some tracks he had been working on for the newly-formed Alter Bridge's debut album. One happened to be Metalingus.

Upon hearing the track, Edge requested to use it as his new theme song upon his return, to which Tremonti eagerly agreed. WWE got use of the song on the cheap, Alter Bridge received a huge popularity boost, and Edge went on to become an 11-time world champion.

Overly-opinionated Australian WWE smark who is definitely not #booty. Slowly angering the IWC one article at a time. We will probably strongly dislike each other - let's be friends! @MattKMarsden
