A featured performer almost from the moment Triple H took control of 205 Live from Vince McMahon, Mustafa Ali is enjoying a productive 2018, though he has regularly fallen short in big matches.

His year began on a 3-1 run, with the sole loss coming to Cedric Alexander on 23 January. From there, Ali excelled in Drake Maverick's Cruiserweight Title Tournament. He overturned Jack Gallagher, Buddy Murphy, and Drew Gulak en route to the final, then followed up with a couple of tag victories. Mustafa fell to Alexander again at WrestleMania 34. A crucial loss, and he has been inconsistent ever since, pushed back to a middling role while Cedric focuses on fresh challengers.

It's hard to tell how Mustafa will fare as 2018 progresses. He's a fantastic wrestler, and the WrestleMania build revealed him as a tremendous talker as well, but he has been working with Alexander for most of the year. Turning Ali heel would give WWE the impetus to transform their relationship from friends to enemies, but Mustafa is such an endearing babyface. Why take the risk?
