10 Best WWE Wrestlers Of 2020 (So Far)

1. Asuka

Asuka might not have had the most brilliant matches of anyone in 2020, with her work being consistently incredible but rarely given the spotlight as much as other performers. The Kabuki Warriors didn’t get the run they should have, partially due to Kairi Sane’s concussion and partially because of the lack of depth given to the women’s tag team division. After a scintillating title match against Becky Lynch at the Royal Rumble, Asuka seemed destined to be relegated like she was last year.

Then empty arena WWE happened and Asuka became an essential force in the early days of Performance Centre wrestling. Her unbelievable energy and charisma almost single-handedly made up for the lack of crowds, with her enthusiasm and relentless screams being a main selling point of weekly television for a couple of months. Her in ring action continued to impress as well, with her stiff offence adjusting well to the quieter arena. With Kairi, she delivered in the opening match of WrestleMania 36 with Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross, and has had great singles matches with Charlotte on Raw in recent weeks.

However the main reason she’s number one is the way she won her Raw women’s title, the night after a euphoric Money in the Bank win. She celebrated Becky Lynch’s pregnancy and her new title reign with such genuine joy that it was impossible not to tear up. That’s the joy of Asuka this year: she’s the guarantee that you’re going to feel something when you watch WWE.
