10 Big Concerns Heading Into WWE Extreme Rules 2021

8. Lily Helps Alexa Bliss Reach The Top

Oh God no!

Look, The Fiend was cool at its inception, with Bray Wyatt's genius work within the Firefly Fun House offering a jarring opposite to the murderous alter ego. It worked. It was new and it was immaculately presented. But it reached its nadir in late 2019, within the confines of a red cell and it never recovered. (The Firefly Fun House match with John Cena an outlier to the rest of the run).

It was a year ago when Alexa Bliss first came into contact with Wyatt, with the WWE placing a surprising finger on the pulse of fans who had longed for Bliss to be Sister Abigail. The swamp fight was hot garbage, but that was one crumb of intrigue.

But since then - what the hell? The child-like persona raises genuine questions around appropriateness and the gimmick has long since jumped the shark. Any charm Alexa once had has been squashed by the terrible character she has become and her cringe-worthy promos. A grown woman giggling and acting like a child is unsettling, but not in the way WWE thinks.

The biggest worry here is that Lily makes the difference. She has already shown she is a sentient creature, able to stand up on her own, wink and even chase a revered MMA fighter into her locker room and make her crap her pants. The fans have checked out on the doll, and the gimmick is just a hurtful reminder of how great the early days of the Bray Wyatt's repackaging were.

Just please make it stop! (They won't - a Lily doll with a championship belt will probably sell like CM Punk ice cream bars!)
