10 Big Concerns Heading Into WWE Extreme Rules 2021
6. Keith Lee's New Gimmick Debut's To Silence
How do you get Keith Lee wrong?
Seriously? After his brilliant run in NXT, fantastic showing at the three-way Survivor Series and his awesome cameo in the 2020 Royal Rumble, Keith Lee's promotion to the main roster was an open goal.
Somehow, WWE has messed it up. It didn't help that they stripped away much of his personality on night one, deciding he needed new music along with making him wrestle in a t-shirt. Lee is one of the most physically imposing men in the WWE but hey... he doesn't have those glorious muscles!
Wonky booking didn't help either, although effectively squashing Randy Orton in the midst of his title dalliance with Drew McIntyre was promising. Since then, zilch. A long, protracted health issue has sidelined him for most of the year and since his return, he's had a meaningless mini rivalry with Karrion Kross.
Does it get much worse?
Well yes, it can. Reports are rife that Keith Lee's imminent return will be as a heel, with the new nickname 'Bearcat'. It's as if the WWE are blind to the super over babyface Keith Lee was and have decided to start from scratch.
If it plays out to silence, or god forbid, cheers of delight at Keith Lee's return, it will be hard to see a way back for the big man.
