10 Big Concerns Heading Into WWE Extreme Rules 2021

5. A Pointless Women's Tag Title Rematch

Did you know that the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships changed hands on Monday Night RAW? Or, better yet, did you care?

The concept of the belts themselves is watertight, and when Sasha Banks and Bayley lifted them above their heads to become the inaugural champions, it felt like another positive step forward for a women's division that was going from strength to strength.

Fast forward to two and half years later and I bet you couldn't name the last five teams to hold those belts. Often relegated to an afterthought, the belts have become one of the most redundant in the company. Considering the WWE doesn't even push proper tag teams, what chance did these belts ever have?

Hamstrung by not even having a women's tag division, every champion seems to be just a thrown together pair, which is exactly what Rhea Ripley and Nicki ASH are. Two singles stars tumbling down the totem pole, this isn't a make good for the two of them being fed to Charlotte. It's a futile attempt to keep a bad idea going.

As is the case, expect a rematch to be thrown on the pre-show to play out to total silence or the smattering of boos for poor Nikki, who deserves better.
