10 Big Concerns Heading Into WWE Payback 2020
1. Roman Reigns Winning The Universal Championship In His First Match Back
There were so many layers to Roman Reigns' return at SummerSlam that it's hard to sum up all of them up. Fans were happy to the Big Dog after such a long absence while others weren't thrilled to see him target 'The Fiend' seconds after he'd finally reclaimed his glory. And then there's the fact that he might have even turned heel in the process.
But it doesn't matter which of these perspectives you saw it from, because they all must have one definitive outcome - or, more specifically, avoid one particular outcome. It's simple: Roman Reigns can not win the Universal Championship in his first match back.
We've already discussed the damage this would do to 'The Fiend' (not-to-mention the former champion Braun Strowman should he be the one to get pinned), but it would also do some pretty irreparable damage to Reigns.
Undoubtedly one of the most divisive wrestlers in WWE history, Reigns has suffered at the hands of WWE's poor booking many times in the past as it ultimately turned the fans against him. It's imperative that they show us that they actually learned their lesson and don't make the same mistake again. The heel turn was the long-awaited trump card we thought they would never use, but if they use it only to justify their bad booking again, it would be incredibly hard for 'The Big Dog' to ever come back from it.
It's far too soon for him to win the gold.
