10 Big Concerns Heading Into WWE Royal Rumble 2021
2. Goldberg Could Become WWE Champion
The notion of Goldberg getting involved in WWE programming on the Road to WrestleMania shouldn't be quite as terrifying as it actually is. There is a place for the WCW icon on the roster because, like it or not, nostalgia sells. So, should he wish to compete, the creative team should easily be able to whip up something short and in-character for Goldberg at the major PPVs should they need to.
And yet, come WrestleMania time, they tend to take that too far.
Who could forget how he buried Kevin Owens' main event push in an instant by taking the Universal Championship from him in less than 30 seconds back at Fastlane 2017 - just so he could carry the Universal Championship into WrestleMania and lose it to Brock Lesnar? What about how he shocked the world by pinning the undefeated Fiend last year just so he could carry the same belt into WrestleMania again and, uh, lose again?
With Drew McIntyre enjoying his second convincing reign as champion, the 'Scottish Psychopath' is about to bring his journey full-circle and head into 'Mania with the gold that he first won at last year's 'Showcase of the Immortals', but given Goldberg's track record at WrestleMania season, we shouldn't bet on McIntyre having the belt at 'Mania just yet.
