We’ve mentioned the Asuka/Sasha situation but seriously, what’s going on here? While Bayley and Sasha have long been underrated by WWE backstage officials and deserve their time on top completely, the way they’ve been booked is absolutely insane. Sasha winning the belt via count-out was crazy, but you can deal with that, it’s building to a rematch with Sasha.

But then, WWE realised that they hadn’t booked an angle for Bayley for a second year in a row at SummerSlam outside of the Asuka feud, so now she’s challenging for two titles in two separate matches on the same night. It makes sense narratively that Asuka’s challenging because she’s the only person even remotely being booked as a competitor in the title scene, but the corner the writers have put themselves in is astronomical.

Any development to the angle is likely going to be botched because of the convoluted spur of the moment style of the whole narrative so far, it’s hard to see how this directly progresses Sasha and Bayley’s doomed relationship. The current lack of a tag title defence further minimises the number of women on the card as well, which is very saddening.
