10 Big Concerns Heading Into WWE WrestleMania Backlash
9. 24/7 Title Shenanigans In The Lumberjack Match
Somehow, we're just about two years into the existence of WWE's failed 24/7 Championship gimmick. There was so much potential for it too, given that we're in the era of modern technology. What could have been a brilliant second coming of the Hardcore Championship is instead now used as segway fodder between segments.
Pay-per-views typically see the brunt of these.
That there's a lumberjack match on the card between The Miz and Damian Priest suggests the title will be heavily featured. After all, the lumberjacks surrounding the ring won't exactly be the Drew McIntyres and Bobby Lashleys of the world, but rather Angel Garza, Drew Gulak, maybe even the Viking Raiders for a laugh. These are all people whose only title aspirations in WWE right now are for that recycled Greatest Royal Rumble strap.
Because the 24/7 Championship can be defended anywhere and everywhere, the lumberjacks could very easily refrain from carrying out their lumberjack duties in favour of fighting amongst each other for the title on the outside.
The main reasoning as to why this is a concern is because Miz and Priest might say "screw it" and become part of the gaggle of title contenders chomping at the bit for R-Truth's most prized possession. Imagine, Damian Priest's first main roster title win is that green piece of trash.
