10 Big Concerns Heading Into WWE WrestleMania Backlash

8. The Dirty Dawgs Remain SmackDown Tag Team Champions

On paper, Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode should have been a solid tag team. They've both got endless bundles of charisma and can back it up in the ring when they need to. Really, it's WWE's booking that has failed these two over the years.

They scraped the SmackDown Tag Team Championships away from the Street Profits in January and have retained them to this day, although they never actually defended the things until April.

The Dirty Dawgs' first pay-per-view defence sees them challenged by Rey and Dominik Mysterio, one of the three challenging teams felled by Ziggler and Roode on WrestleMania SmackDown. Surely, their time as champions is over. It seems to be a case that WWE didn't want Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford to be the champions any longer, but at the same time didn't have a clue who they did want as champions, resulting in this forgettable run.

On that note, however, it's Backlash. Since this pay-per-view was resurrected in 2016, it's rarely given fans what they wanted. AJ Styles becoming WWE Champion in 2016 was great, but that was met with Jinder Mahal becoming champion at the following year's instalment. Expect a Dirty Dawgs retention come Sunday, whether you want it or not.
