10 Big Mistakes WWE Have Made With Bray Wyatt

9. Dumbing Him Down

Bray, himself, is excellent. He’s a solid wrestler with a unique in-ring style, and few can match his charisma on the microphone. When fed with the right material, he’s one of the most interesting performers in the business, but therein lies the problem: his written material has become complete muck over the years, and strayed too far from the traits that made him so interesting in the first place.

Bray Wyatt was incredibly fresh when he started in NXT. Dressed in Hawaiian shirts and straw hats, the grimy backwoods-dweller had a unique cadence to his voice, and convinced you he was genuine evil manifested in human form. He built his reputation by using his twisted logic to bend other, more vulnerable souls to his will, and his adoption of Rowan and Harper as his “sons” illustrated that he was a man whose danger extended way beyond physical actions.

Sadly, WWE’s main roster writers have completely forgotten about this. The character has been watered down and pushed as a zany comic book villain rather than the ruthless, methodical trickster of old. Wyatt has lost his intelligence: he doesn’t outfox anyone anymore, and he certainly isn’t using his powers of persuasion on unsuspecting roster members.
