With a sizeable lump in his throat, an emotional Mick Foley genuinely looked cut up as he left the ring upon being fired as General Manager by Stephanie McMahon on Raw.

WWE surely won't fill that position before WrestleMania 33; the announcement of a new Raw GM should be given sole spotlight, especially if the company want it to feel meaningful. Besides, Stephanie herself can continue a reign of terror on the program in the interim.

Quickly after 'Mania however, a decision will have to be taken on who is the next authority figure on the red brand, and it has to be the right choice.

Names like Kurt Angle, Eric Bischoff, Edge, Steve Austin and even Jim Cornette are being thrown around in articles on WWE's official website, and it's true that someone like Angle would appeal to most fans; Cornette is the dark horse in that particular conversation, because it's even a surprise that he and WWE have come to an agreement on inducting The Rock N' Roll Express into the Hall Of Fame.

The Raw GM story will dominate proceedings on the show right after WrestleMania, and it's crucial that WWE make the right choice to lead them though the remainder of 2017.
