10 Big Talking Points From WWE Raw (July 11)
8. Kalisto's On The Downswing
The third match on Raw pitted former NXT Tag Team Champions The Lucha Dragons against the horribly-named team of Breezango (Tyler Breeze and Fandango, if the portmanteau didn't spell it out clearly enough). The match was decent, but the finish was a shock - Breeze hit Kalisto with a superkick and pinned him cleanly.
There's nothing wrong with Tyler Breeze and Fandango getting a push. Both men are talented stars who spent months (or, in Fandango's case, years) being undervalued and having their talents wasted. At the same time, though, a few wins haven't changed the way both men are perceived by fans. They came up on the short end of a feud with The Golden Truth, and Goldust and R-Truth aren't exactly pushed stars.
In light of that, having Breeze pin Kalisto hammers home that WWE is well and truly done building up the high-flying star. He spent four months as the company's United States Champion, but it ultimately did nothing for him. It also showed just how little a reign as U.S. Champ really means if the company doesn't treat it as important.
