10 Big Talking Points From WWE Raw (June 27)

3. Too Many Kanes

As a result of Corporate Kane's reminder that The Miz was derelict in defending his Intercontinental Championship, Stephanie McMahon told him he'd have to defend it later in the evening against a mystery opponent. When The Miz hit the ring for his match, it turned out his opponent would be Kane - Demon Kane, to be precise.

One of the main problems with WWE in 2015 was that it was constantly necessary for announcers to specify which Kane they were talking about. While the Corporate Kane persona was admittedly entertaining, twice the Kane meant twice the time dedicated to an Attitude Era relic in his late 40s. Plus, it all led to Demon Kane matches, which were nothing special.

Speaking of nothing special, this was a short - but bad - match that saw Maryse fake a leg injury and Miz carry her to the back for a countout. That means that Kane is likely to get a rematch for the title, possibly at Battleground. If that happens, it'll be quite the fall from the last Intercontinental Title match on Pay-Per-View, and will correct all the fans who thought the belt was coming back to prominence.
