10 Big-Time Wrestling Debuts That Were Totally Wasted

6. Miro (AEW)

When: 9 September 2020 (Dynamite).

Why It Was A Waste: Ospreay got off lightly compared to the former Rusev.

Miro's very first angle in AEW circles was to pretend that he'd been buddies with Kip Sabian for years. The ex-WWE worker was Kip's "Best Man", but he was starring in one of wrestling's worst debuts. Fans wanted to rally support around Miro, because he'd been poorly treated by WWE for years.

Despite knowing that, and for some unknown reason, Tony Khan elected to blend an obvious 'I'm moving on from that other promotion' promo with some crummy storyline that saw Miro link up with Sabian. It was stupid, and it'd be months before the incoming star looked like the major coup he actually was/is.

Miro's 'Redeemer' switch improved things exponentially, but not before people were forced to sit through an unwanted tag run with Kip. This just wasn't a good fit for either man, being brutally honest. It sucked the life out of Rusev's arrival in the company.
