10 Big-Time Wrestling Debuts That Were Totally Wasted

7. Will Ospreay (AEW)

When: 8 June 2022 (Dynamite).

Why It Was A Waste: Former IWGP Heavyweight Champion, celebrated athletic marvel and all-round pro wrasslin' superstar Will Ospreay showed up by surprise on the 8 June edition of AEW Dynamite. His mission? Stand there smiling like this was Raw in 2017 and he was Finn Bálor.

Man, what a waste!

Ospreay then worked his first All Elite match on the following Friday's Rampage. It was a six-man effort alongside his Aussie Open pals against FTR and Trent Beretta - a workable match, but not quite high-profile enough to make Will's first two showings in Tony Khan's world worth a toss.

The UK standout will be part of AEW's Forbidden Door pay-per-view. After that, who knows? He's just the latest major name to show up on Khan's TV with no real rhyme or reason. Here's Will Ospreay, folks. Yay? The Dynamite bow wasn't enough, and he shouldn't have been in a six-man for his first bout.
