This site, along with countless others, has dedicated column space to considering whether or not Dean Ambrose asking for his WWE release is a work this week. Both sides of the debate bring compelling evidence to the table. For now, though, we're going to say it isn't, and predict that the next few months will be very, very difficult for WWE's 'Moral Compass.'

WWE have little reason to be nice to Ambrose on his way out the door. Though he's popular, he isn't a proven needle-mover, and they've never given him the same level of faith they've afforded to Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns since The Shield split. Besides, there's a strong chance he'd walk out of Stamford and straight into All Elite Wrestling's open arms. He could absolutely be a major asset for that promotion, and with AEW already forcing Vince McMahon to change the way he does business, the Chairman is going to be p*ssed.

Don't expect a pat on the back and a nice "farewell" bout for Ambrose. Instead, expect humiliation. Nia Jax has already punched him in the mouth. Things can and will get worse, though such booking will deal little lasting damage to the departing Dean.
