When Batista returned at the 2014 Royal Rumble, WWE expected him to come out to a hero's ovation. Instead, Batista was greeted with venom and disgust from the fans who were upset that Daniel Bryan was being shuffled to the background in favor of Big Dave. Batista departed shortly after Wrestlemania in order to promote his hit movie Guardians of the Galaxy and was recently rumored to have been cast in the new James Bond movie. With his star on the rise, it seems more and more unlikely that Batista will return to wrestling but, as have heard time and time again, never say never in professional wrestling. While Batista may well follow the Rock into movie stardom, he still loves the wrestling business. Anyone who listened to him on Chris Jericho's podcast can attest to the fact that Batista didn't come back to steal Bryan's spotlight or upset the fans. He came back because he missed wrestling and wanted another run. With the demands of Hollywood increasing and Batista getting older, the window may be closing for The Animal to return to WWE. However, Dave always has a connection with the audience (positive or negative) and it may only be a matter of time before he misses it.
