Look, all the water has been wrung out of this particular news cycle, but like an errant coloured sock amongst the whites, it's likely to rear its unwelcome head once more at any given moment.

Over the summer, The Wrestling Observer reported a most spectacular story suggesting that WWE castouts Enzo and Cass - now plying their trade as the copyright-dodging nZo and CaZXL - had been contacted about a potential reconciliation, with a view to heading up NXT's move to USA. That turned out to be categorically b*llocks; Paul Levesque himself was quick to dowse the furore-inducing fire, noting there was no chance in hell either of the troublemakers would be back at Full Sail any time soon.

What's undeniably true in WWE today is mere fiction tomorrow. See: Punk, CM, Sammartino, Bruno, Warrior, The Ultimate. With pretty much every unsigned wrestler of any value already under wraps, fresh blood - and fresh blood that can inspire interest - is growing harder to find. With free agents in short supply, there may come a time next year when the company has no choice but to turn to the FreeAgentZ.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
