8. The Undertaker

Of course, the 'Final Farewell'. Is anyone actually buying that? Does anyone truly believe that The Undertaker will now rest in peace? Come on now, don't be silly. This is professional wrestling, after all. If you really think that The Undertaker has stuck his tongue out in the middle of the ring for the last time, you must be new to this sport.

It isn't a case of 'if', only 'when'. Will it be as soon as fans are allowed back inside the arenas? 'Taker is a Hall of Fame inductee waiting for his time and he won't be waiting for long, but will that coincide with one last ride between the ropes? 'Undertaker: The Last Ride' laid bare just how anxious and neurotic the Deadman is when it comes to going out on the right foot; will he be able to resist them temptation?

If history has taught us anything, the answer to that is a resounding 'no'. No professional wrestler retires, it just doesn't happen. This is especially true of those who remain visible in the industry, and particularly true of those who earn that fabled 'legend' status. Undertaker will be back. The lure of another WrestleMania match is just too strong, even for the dead.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
